This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many students struggle with food insecurity, and knowing that snack items are going home with them will help ease their minds and improve their mental and physical health. Our school prides itself in pushing students academically here in the South Bronx, but we cannot do that if students are hungry. Food goes hand in hand with community building, mental health, and learning. In addition, as educators, we are still feeling the mental health impact of the pandemic and the way it disrupted student social experiences. I have requested resources to help continue to focus on SEL learning in advisory.
