My Students

I currently teach eager first grade students, in a low socioeconomic district in Miami Gardens. Their backgrounds include, students recently immigrating to the United States who do not speak the language. I also have students identified as learning disabled, emotional and behaviorally disabled, on the autism spectrum, and speech and language impaired. They have a love for learning and technology. I want my students to have the best opportunity to thrive in this 21st century. My students love reading, writing, social students, science, math and all artistic subjects.

My students are limited on the access they have to updated resources.

Students should be able to thrive in a learning environment that is safe, limitless, and creative. This will allow them to thrive as adults in a technology driven world.

My Project

I want to help provide my students with snacks that they can eat after they leave reading tutoring.

Our school is has a long school day.

We then have tutoring until 4:30 p.m. My students eat lunch at 10:30 a.m. and I am requesting these snacks so that they can have a bite to eat. I want to have these additional snacks so that my students can have something to eat before they go home.

Many of my students only eat their meals in school. The snacks will allow them to focus on learning and not being hungry. I want them to be able to have something to nourish their bodies while they are learning.
