My Project

My classroom serves students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and providing both snacks and educational storybooks is essential for their success. These students often face unique challenges when it comes to regulating their emotions, staying focused, and staying engaged in learning. Snacks offer an important form of support, ensuring that they have the energy to participate in class activities and remain attentive throughout the day. Many students with ASD can become irritable or struggle to focus when hungry, so having regular access to nutritious snacks helps maintain a positive learning environment.

The educational storybooks are equally vital.

Books with social-emotional themes help students develop important skills like empathy, self-regulation, and understanding their emotions. Storybooks with characters facing challenges similar to their own offer a safe way for students to explore social situations and practice appropriate responses. These books also support language development, comprehension, and the ability to communicate feelings effectively, all of which are essential for students with ASD.

These resources are more than just tools; they are lifelines that help students engage in the classroom, improve their emotional regulation, and enhance their social skills.
