My Students

In my classroom, every student is special in his or her own way. The ultimate reward is knowing that you have the opportunity to have an impact on a young person’s life. However, not every student is created equal. Most of teachers will tell you that they don’t have favorites, but the truth is that there are students who possess certain characteristics that make them ideal pupils. These students are naturally endearing to teachers, and it is difficult not to embrace them because they make your job easier. I'm always rewarding students for their behavior and effort in trying their best. No matter the behavior, don’t give up on trying to reach that student…the negativity may be a defense for something deeper.

My Project

My project is created to help motivate students to engage in learning in class (because many have expressed they are terrified to come to school due to COVID-19), and also allow students to have a moment to get away from their designated areas to read comfortably.

Due to social distancing guidelines and small classroom areas, students are confined to their "squares" all day, except for transitioning throughout the building.

Students have expressed how they would like an area to be able to work without sitting in the hard chairs, some even work currently while laying on the floor. I want to give my students a better experience in class so they enjoy coming despite their circumstances. With budgeting issues due to the loss of students, our school is also limited on resources. Snacks would also help boost morale and keep students engaged.
