My Project

Lately, we have been collaborating with a local animal shelter. Our goals are varied. Sometimes we work on storytelling. Sometimes we work on project building. Sometimes we just play with the dogs. Since much of our work happens during lunch periods, I like to have snacks available for students in attendance.

We are requesting snacks for the students and snacks for the pets.

We are also requesting some lick mats, natural peanut butter and air-dried kibble for our four-legged friends. We'll use these items during our collaborative events. We'll donate any leftovers to the shelter.

Shelter dogs have a special effect on students. Each dog that comes to our classroom has a story that we use to focus a lesson. The focus of the lesson associated with this topic is empathy. Students will hear about the dog's story and then share their own stories.
