Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hunger can be a significant barrier to learning. When students are hungry, they struggle to concentrate, feel irritable, or withdraw, making it harder to stay engaged and retain information. Snacks can change that by providing the fuel they need to focus, energize, and approach their day positively.

Here’s how we plan to use the snacks in our classroom:

Pre-Class Energy Boost: Some students come to class without eating, making it hard to stay focused. Offering snacks before lessons can help them start on the right foot.

Rewarding Engagement: Snacks will be used as small rewards for participation and effort, encouraging students to engage in discussions and activities.

Study Sessions and Group Work: During intensive group projects or study periods, snacks keep students energized and motivated to stay on task.

Support on Long Days: For students juggling school, work, and family responsibilities, a snack can be the extra support they need to power through.

My goal for this project is to create a classroom where students feel supported and ready to succeed. By addressing hunger, we remove a significant obstacle to learning and build a welcoming environment where students can focus on their education.

What makes my students unique is their resilience and determination. Many of them face challenges outside of school, yet they show up eager to learn and grow. Providing snacks is a small but impactful way to show them they are cared for and supported in every way possible.

With your help, we can create a classroom where every student has the energy to thrive. Thank you for fueling their success!
