Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a high school teacher who leads multiple lunch time and after-school activities, I see firsthand how hunger affects our students' ability to fully engage in learning beyond regular school hours. I'm reaching out to request your support in providing snacks for our dedicated students who need academic support during lunch or who stay after school for extra-curricular activities. Providing snacks for our students has proven to help fuel their minds during these afternoon sessions where critical thinking and creativity are essential.

Your contribution would not only ensure our students maintain their energy and focus, but would also strengthen the sense of community within our after-school programs.

When students have access to snacks, they're more likely to stay engaged, participate actively, and support one another's learning.

Last semester, I personally provided snacks during several lunchtime and after-school sessions, and the difference in student engagement and peer connections was remarkable. Even if the snacks I have selected may not be defined as "healthy", I make sure to provide healthy options like fruit to compensate. Bottomline, your investment would directly contribute to creating an environment where students can fully immerse themselves in these enriching after-school experiences that shape their academic and personal growth. The simple act of sharing snacks creates natural opportunities for students to bond, collaborate, and build lasting friendships while pursuing their interests.
