My Students

My second graders are voracious readers! They love to read both fiction and nonfiction books. Their favorite characters include Pete the Cat, Fly Guy, Piggie and Elephant, and Mercy Watson. They also love to read about insects, space, and plants. My students are hungry bookworms! They are eager to learn and read about the world around them. My class is made up of general education students, children with special needs, and English as a new language students.

My students love to be at school and are like little sponges, absorbing everything around them.

Their parents work long hours and usually do not see their children. The children are usually cared for by their grandparents or a family friend. Most of them do not have someone who speaks English at home. Thus, it is difficult for students to acquire the English language.

Due to financial hardships, my students do not have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities during the school year or summer.

My Project

Families are struggling as they try to support their children during the pandemic. It is heartwarming to see the effort and love being put forth by the children and families. We all miss each other and miss going to our school. My second graders are working hard alongside their families and teachers as we try to navigate this unknown world of distance learning.

As our daily remote learning instructional time increases, my second graders need a snack break in the morning to re-energize their bodies.

Our mornings are jammed packed with reading, writing, and math. As we transition from subject to subject, students become tired from sitting in front of their iPad or computer screen. I am asking for various snacks such as cookies, bars, popcorn, animal crackers, and Goldfish for my students to snack on during distance learning at home.

These healthy snacks will target hungry tummies and help my second graders stay alert during instructional time. Your donations to this project will allow my students to work with full tummies.

Just like adults, young children also need a snack to rejuvenate their brain cells during the long school day. Your donations to this project will allow me to provide nutritious snacks to re-energize students in distance learning.
