Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My campus is Title I and all my students come from low-income households with a variety of cultural backgrounds. My students are economically disadvantaged and most of them come to school hungry and wonder where their next meal will come from. My students are mostly ELLs, and despite the adversities they face, my students are engaged and demonstrate a willingness to learn every day. They love snack time and being able to sit and connect with their classmates.
A love for learning starts in Pre-k and I know my students could be successful with full and nourished bellies.
My Project
Although I ask parents for snack donations at the beginning of the year, due to displacements of families, and other factors, our snack storage is dwindling. I cannot afford to feed my students on my own.
These snack items will make a difference in my students' learning by helping them remain focused.
Most students' families are financially unable to provide snacks for their classmates and these snacks will greatly help our classroom. Having snacks in our classroom will help meet a student's need that is not often met outside of school. Nourished and full bellies contribute to a healthy brain and mindset which allows the student to be engaged and ready to learn.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
