Snack Closet

Help me give my students a snack closet of their dreams. Many students qualify for free/reduced lunch. This would provide students with access to snacks when they need them. All help is greatly appreciated!

My Project

Have you ever tried to accomplish a task while hungry? Have you ever struggled to focus in an important meeting because you skipped breakfast that morning? Have you ever arrived home after being gone for 12 hours and ate lunch 8 hours ago? That is what our middle schoolers experience daily. We’ve created an environment where student are encouraged and want to be active in something. Whether that is going to the high school after school to practice with their band, sports practice, tutoring, or riding a late bus… all students will benefit from a snack closet. Last year, many fellow teachers, friends, and families donated and the look on their face when they realized complete strangers bought snacks for them, will be something I’ll never forget. They were so thankful and appreciative of having a closet of goodies available to them. Taken the burden of being hungry off of their shoulders will help students focus on their learning and participation in extracurricular activities.
