This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a special education teacher, I am incredibly proud of my students and their resilience, creativity, and determination to succeed despite the challenges they face. Many of my students come to class hungry, and it deeply affects their ability to concentrate, engage, and feel good about themselves. Hunger takes a toll on their mental health, making it harder for them to stay focused, motivated, and emotionally balanced.

The snacks I am requesting will serve a dual purpose: to alleviate hunger and to act as a motivator and reward for their hard work and participation in class.

Providing my students with healthy snacks will help them stay energized, focused, and in a better mental space to learn and engage with the material. These snacks will play a crucial role in improving their mood and overall mental wellness, allowing them to feel more secure and cared for in the classroom environment.

My goal for this project is to create a learning space where my students are not distracted by hunger but can focus fully on their education. By meeting their basic needs with these snacks, I hope to foster a sense of comfort and mental well-being that supports their learning and emotional health.

What makes my students special is their incredible determination and strength. They have big hearts and endless potential, and I want to give them every opportunity to thrive. With your support, we can make sure that hunger is no longer a barrier to their success, allowing them to focus on learning and feeling their best.
