This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A picture is worth a thousand words, especially to students whose first language is not English.
Art is an important part of what we do here.
My students are almost entirely immigrant and still English Language Learners. Our school believes that the visual arts is a place that they can succeed regardless of their language ability. This year we have stepped up the arts a notch!!! For the first time my school has given our students a CHOICE of what elective they want to pursue. My energetic group of 7th grade students has chosen to take Art.
My Project
These cameras will allow the students to add photography as another medium in which they can explore. Depending upon the project, students are allowed to choice a medium to formulate a solution. For example they may be asked to complete a self portrait, some students will draw that picture from their memory, others may use a mirror and some may use a photograph for reference. Now they can take that photograph themselves and present their own photographic vision of themselves as their final product. They were given the choice of their elective now we can give them the choice of their art form too!!!
I have told my students that more photographs will be taken in the next 5 minutes around the globe than were taken in the entire 19th Century.
They should help to create this digital photo album.
