This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have had the pleasure to lead our school's yearbook committee that consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students for the last 3 years. These students are responsible for taking pictures and creating the yearbook for the school. My students have grown to love photography- getting the opportunity to capture special moments throughout the school year.

My students are energetic, creative and love to capture moments in our school that will turn into memories.

They continue to surprise me with their unique ideas for the yearbook, but it has become a challenge to turn those ideas into reality without a quality camera.

My Project

The yearbook gives students a way to express their creativity in a positive way. My students have become limited, because of the outdated camera that has seen better days. A new camera will give students the opportunity to capture candid moments for the school yearbook, all while developing a strong school culture. Students will be able to showcase what they are proud of, while the yearbook committee captures those moments. Students will be able to use the camera to snap photos of students participating in STEM activities, reading and math projects, Science Fair, school dances, assemblies, sports games and much more!

The Yearbook Committee will be able to take their creativity to the next level, while showcasing their school with a quality camera!

Students will no longer be disappointed when their photos are blurry, dark, or the battery runs out during an event. In order to get quality photos, we have to outsource a photographer for a day, which costs money and they are only there to capture classroom photos on that particular day. The school holds many different events throughout the year and teachers are often engaging students in photo worthy activities- the yearbook students want to take accountability for their yearbook and be a part of the process by snapping their own pictures! A new camera will allow students to capture candid moments throughout the year and share those memories with the entire school community!
