This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students choose to go to a charter school in their area to better their chances to go to college. They are high-energy, appreciative, and super engaged in their community. Please help me provide calculators for my students to achieve and compete in today's highly competitive journey to the college of their dreams.

Our school is located in Lincoln Height, California approximately ten minutes from DTLA.

The median household income in Lincoln Heights is $36,000. So the lack of resource is apparent in the students that come to our school. With limited budget for classroom supplies, elective classes, and sports facilities on campus, we try our best to give our students memorable experiences and develop high expectations for them to become college-ready. They are fearless when it comes to technology and, as children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their world. Having these calculators in my classroom will help them be prepared for their AP Calculus test in May which I encourage all my students to take.

My Project

The TI Calculators that I have selected will help my students by giving them a chance to compete with other students who do not face the same financial challenges. And it will help give them the confidence boost to achieve their college dreams.

Having all the materials they need before sending students off to take a major exam like the AP Calculus Exam will let them know that we care for them and their efforts to become successful scholars in their future careers.

By providing them with these calculators, we would help decrease the achievement gap existent between schools in our community and more affluent neighborhoods.
