My Students

Imagine coming into a new country, new home, and surrounded by people you do not know. My students are mostly new immigrants to the United States and sometimes not living with their parents.

My students are minimalist in the sense that they have what they need to get by.

Many of my students are exposed to technology and a new culture only at school. Yet many of my students embrace learning to the fullest. They are excited when they see something new and intrigued when they are exposed to something new. They want to embrace this new culture they are put in but they do not have the technology, and resources to. Their parents are too busy trying to provide the family with essentials where they do not have time or the power to culture and spend quality time with their children.

My Project

We have been lucky to have been granted with a new smartboard in our classroom, but the old laptops we have at school can not process fast enough for us to use the smartboard to it's potential. With a new laptop the students will have an opportunity to experience learning through the Internet and new technology. With the smartboard the students are able to use technology to the next step with interactive boards. A new laptop will allow students to watch videos to learn more in science and social students. They would be able to use Google earth and have interactive activities to learn more about mapping and the world beyond their neighborhood. It will open the children eyes to a whole new world exposing them to the world of technology.

This laptop will be used everyday to help enhance and engage the students to learning.

It will allow us to use the smartboard to it's potential and allow us to not waste any learning time to wait for programs and pages to load. We are in a generation where technology is key to everything and this will help us use this technology to help engage students into learning.
