Help me give my students The opportunity to have the same experiences in their Learning Support Classroom as they have in the general education classrooms with a SMART board.
I am a Special Education teacher in an inner city school while also wearing the hat of the Special Education Compliance Monitor. I have groups that I work with in reading and math and conduct all of the IEP meetings. Here’s the problem - I don’t have a smart board in my (very small) room.
My students need a SMART board to become collaborators in their learning.
The board will allow students to work cooperatively to solve interactive problems. Video clips can be displayed in order to enhance their learning. Math games on a larger board than a laptop promotes team games.
In addition to benefitting the students, the SMART board will allow better access to documents during Special Education meeting. IEPs can be displayed for the team to see instead of asking members of the team to ‘turn to page 37…now to page 42…” etc. The SMART board allows the leader to toggle between documents that are important to the meeting.
