My Project
Our Montessori charter school serves students who don't thrive in a traditional public school classroom, in addition to students whose families believe in the Montessori model of education. My middle school students are a mix of students who came up in Montessori as well as those who transferred from traditional schools.
As a new teacher, I am struggling with keeping students engaged and on track.
When I use visual aids, they do seem to get more out of our lessons. Unfortunately, I have a small projector and a small screen. Some of the students complain it is not easy to see. I believe I would be more effective with a smart board and especially with one that moves easily so I can work with small groups during 'Work Cycles.' Also, the ability to have resources on the smart board and separate from my computer will help me.
Montessori has not traditionally used a lot of technology in its programs but because of standards we are doing more. Sadly, our school currently doesn't have the budget to add a smart board for my classroom. We are a small class so a smaller board should be fine.
