Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach fourth and fifth grade students that have very curious and inquisitive minds. They love to learn and work collaboratively on their learning experiences. Unfortunately, because we have a crowded classroom, there is not a lot of room for my kiddos to have a flexible learning environment.

With smaller desks, my students will be able to maximize the learning space in our classroom.

Smaller desks will allow them to fit comfortably, without feeling cramped or squished at their desks. Often times, they bump into each other when scooting out from their desk, or they have to squeeze between chairs when walking in the class. With smaller desks, my students can sit closer to each other for collaborating. However, it would also free up space in the class, for a more flexible and comfortable learning environment, if they choose to sit somewhere else in the classroom.

At this time, my students desks take up the majority of the classroom, making it a challenge for them to access resources. With these smaller desks, my kids can move around the classroom more freely and access the materials they need, such as our classroom library or manipulatives, easier.
