Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a small public elementary school located within the Bronx. It is composed of students of various academic abilities and cultures. Approximately half of our students are from low-income families. As a school, we are committed to ensuring that each child receives instruction that is tailored to meet them at their level and to challenge them.

We look to provide lessons within small groups so that students receive academic and character-building lessons that are on their level.

Our students are eager to learn. We have strong family involvement and look to work as a team to make learning accessible and fun.

My Project

Teaching in an Integrated Co-Teaching classroom, we use parallel teaching throughout the day to make sure the needs of our students are met. Our classroom has students, some with learning disabilities, who flourish with focused instructions and small groups to scaffold information to aid them in their learning.

My co-teacher and I try to utilize every square inch of our classroom to parallel teach and meet the needs of our students in every subject area.

The materials that we are requesting will aid us in being able to teach lessons effectively to our students. A large easel provides students with a large visual and an opportunity to interact with the lesson that is being taught.
