Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

For the second year in a row, I will be having the privilege of re-teaching students. Many of my former third graders will be joining my class as fifth graders in the fall. Given the dramatic world events, they had a unique end to their fourth-grade year.

As a result, we are spending the first half of our school year apart and need to get creative with our resources.

I am requesting hands-on materials for when we return to the classroom. After months apart, my students will definitely need centers and small groups to not only practice skills but reconnect with their peers.

My Project

I am requesting materials for hands-on science in small groups for when we return to the classroom setting. Some of these materials will be used during our first semester with distance learning, but the rest will be utilized during the second half of the school year.

One of our major science standards looks at landforms and the Earth, so I am requesting materials to teach about earthquakes, the rock cycle, and changes inland.

I am also requesting materials such as test tubes for chemistry lessons. My students will be in a period of adjustment when we return to in-person learning, so I will be utilizing small groups to rebuild social skills as well as academic ones.
