My Students
Children of all abilities and levels deserve to be successful and feel successful at school. Students are able to gain success through individualized and differentiated instruction, which can take place during everyday small-group instruction and learning.
My 2nd graders are motivated and eager to learn and grow as students and human beings.
With the new Common Core State Standards in play and the upcoming changes with Illinois' standardized testing, my students need and deserve quality instruction each and every day. My students need a variety of instructional methods and routines in order for them to be successful. Small-group teaching and learning allows my students to receive individualized instruction and the one-on-one interactions they strive for.
My Project
With the addition of a kidney bean-shaped table and desk chair, my students will be able to sit and learn in an effective position that allows them to stay engaged and focused. This table will also allow for students to take part in peer learning and/or partner learning.
Small-group instruction takes place in all content areas each day. Students will be able to take turns in learning at the kidney table as we meet during small-group time throughout our school day. The material organizer bins will allow me to plan for each small group I meet with every day. Small-group learning allows for me to provide each group with differentiated instruction, materials, and assessments, and the bins will allow for organization and routine in our 2nd grade classroom.
Donations toward this project will immediately and directly have positive effects on my 2nd graders.
My students will no longer have to sit in their traditional desks all day long and take part in constant and ineffective whole-group instruction. This project will allow my 2nd graders to take part in quality small-group learning, which will ultimately lead them to the success they deserve.
