Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We look forward to seeing how new sensory seats will promote the learning of our students with stimulating needs. Our school implemented two co-teaching classrooms back in 2022 and we learn more about the co teaching model, we also learn how to create inclusive classrooms that meet the needs of all of our students.

During the last year, the four co-teachers at our school and the Special Education director have been visiting pilot schools to learn more about what co-teaching is and in what ways it shows itself in the classroom.

As we develop our own programs, each year we learn how to adapt the model into our site! We are successfully navigating challenges within the confines of a smaller workspace due to size constraints. Our team optimizes resources and ensures that despite the limitations, we are making significant progress in achieving our goals.

As a part of an inclusive, independent charter we have slowly progressed into creating a non-restrictive learning environment where all our students are actively receiving the education they need with the support they yearn for! As a co-teacher, I often teach small groups for Math and English Language Arts to students who require an individualized learning setting or modified assignment. To best support the needs of my students, I am proposing a change of chairs to ball chairs to ensure that all kids enjoy their time and learning while sitting with me during those individualized sessions. The introduction of movement and enjoyable chairs is believed to help captivate our students' attention and maintain a focus on their learning and developmental progress.
