This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students need a space where they can receive targeted instruction. We have a wide range of abilities in our classroom. Whole class instruction is not enough to challenge high achievers and provide support to struggling students.

Imagine having to learn a whole new language!

My students left everything behind and are new to this country. Your contribution will go towards providing these 7th graders with the opportunity to learn English in fun and engaging ways. My 7th graders range from new comers to children who have been in the country a maximum of three years. They live in a high poverty high crime area. Budget cuts have left our classroom with great need. Many items necessary to facilitate instruction to a variety of learning styles are out of our reach.

My Project

Right now we are meeting around a small cramped table unfit for instruction. Unfortunately, I am able to meet with a maximum of 4 students at a time due to the lack of space. A proper group table will allow me to meet with more students, allowing for better use of our time and resources.

Students grow by leaps and bounds when they receive targeted instruction.

15 minutes in a small group can make a world of difference for a struggling student. Likewise, a quick lesson for high achievers will keep them interested and engaged in their education. With your help, we will have a special place in our classroom where students will be able to achieve their learning goals.
