Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My classroom needs your help!!! I am a 2nd grade teacher in a high priority school district. Our district has recently made very big budget cuts and there are limited resources in my classroom. Is is so hard to be the best teacher that I want to be without the resources I need!

The problem my classroom faces is that is it very hard to conduct small group instruction. All the tables in my classroom are very long an rectangular, making it difficult for me to pull a small group of students and give each of them my one-on-one attention. I am only given 1 pack of easel paper at the beginning of the year to model strategies for the students to use during this time. This runs out quickly! With no tubs to store the books that we use during this time, it makes organization impossible.

My classroom would greatly benefit from a horseshoe table! This table would allow me to pull a small group of children while being able to see each one of them, listen to them read, and give them one-on-one instruction. With a whiteboard easel I would be able to model good strategies for the students to use during this time and I would never run out of paper. (GO GREEN!) Cubbies for my classroom would allow the students to have somewhere to store the books that they read with me during this time as well. These items would turn my classroom around! These items are so important because small group instruction is where teachers can make the biggest impact on student achievement. It is a time where teachers take a small group of students and target their individual needs. The small student to teacher ratio makes this possible. I feel that this is one of the most important times in the day and this is why I am asking for your help.

With your kind and generous donation you would be helping both present and future students receive great instruction from their teacher! The best part is that these resources are not consumable; they would be used for many, many years. You don't know how much I appreciate your time to review my request and possibly help out my class. We could really use your help! :)
