Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

The rain comes down, the soil washes away. That's something most children who live in rural areas understand. But what about children who live in cities covered in concrete? They see the rain come down and the water run down the sewer. Earth Science was the lowest scoring area for our district on state tests, especially for at-risk students because they don't have the real life experiences that many other children have. Fifth grade students in an inner city area have a hard time understanding the concepts of weathering and erosion. As with most Science content, "hands-on" experiences are the best way to achieve real learning. Stream tables would help my students see the process of erosion and its effect on the land. I would like a set of four stream table kits for my Science lab.
