Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in a preschool classroom for children with autism. My class is made up of an active group of 3, 4, and 5 year olds. At times, completing a task such as circle time can be difficult for them. Some days, getting my students to sit in their chair can seem like an impossible task. Providing them with differentiated seating can be a game changer during the times in class that are difficult for them to sit through.

Sensory-based seating will allow my students to be in control of their learning environment by selecting a spot to sit at that has room for them to engage in sensory activities during whole group lessons.

The products I have selected like the desks, wiggle cushions, and sequin mats will help my students stay engaged during whole group lessons while allowing them to get their wiggles out or use a fidget activity. By building up their tolerance for sitting, they will eventually be able to sit at whole group lessons independently.
