My Students

The students of today face enough challenges in their lives that they should not have to worry about where their school supplies are to be put.

Our Public School is located in NY.

It is a Title I school and has a large minority student population from predominantly low income families. Our students face adult illiteracy, transience, and single parent families. Our parents cannot afford to buy the supplies needed, so we teachers buy the basic supplies such as pencils and crayons. These children try very hard to take care of their supplies but it is very hard when they do not have a place to keep them.

My Project

We would like to help our students become organized and to keep their supplies and books in one spot in the classroom. Seat sacks are sacks that go on the back of the children's chairs. Each seat sack has one small pocket and one large pocket. The small pocket is for their pencils and art boxes. The big pocket is for their workbooks and papers. The students will become accustomed to placing their supplies in their seat sacks so they do not loose them.

These seat sacks will help the children become organized and responsible for their supplies.

If we can help the children become organized and responsible at a young age, hopefully they will be organized and responsible throughout their lives.
