My Students

I am excited to meet my class of 29 2nd-graders! I want to build a community that is kind, thoughtful, and that love to learn together as a small community. In second grade we have the saying "Practice Makes Better" and we are always practicing phonics, math facts, science, and phonemic awareness so that we can become better members of our community. Students work really hard each day with comprehension, phonics, and fluency as they read picture and beginning chapter books. They love to have hands-on experience with numbers and shapes as they focus on math standards.

My Project

The flexible seating stuffed "pillows" will help students as they are reading independently around the room. The pillows will allow students to feel safe and comfortable as they read their favorite books. They will be practicing fluency while choosing their favorite or new books. My hope it to provide students with opportunities to grow as readers and find the love of reading in our 2nd grade reading classroom. The seat sacks will help students be more organized and will save transition time as clipboards, personal whiteboards, and books can be stored in the seat sacks.
