My Students

My students at out Title I school are low-income English Learners who have overcome personal hardships in an impoverished community. Despite their challenging home lives, my students are passionate about school and are driven to succeed. Our classroom is a project based learning environment, filled with young leaders who aspire to make a difference in the world around them. We focus on fostering independence, responsibility, and tolerance.

Our classroom is the destination of a multi-cultural student population with a drive to "be the change you wish to see in the world." My students are amazingly strong, bright, and resilient, and they inspire me to do my best each and every day.

My Project

Every child has different learning needs. As a 21st Century teacher, I find that providing alternatives to the traditional classroom setting can help every child find success. My diverse students can have difficulty sitting still in a typical school desk. For these students I am requesting wobble seats and inflatable chairs that can help them focus and engage more fully in the learning experience. I have students with a wide variety of needs in my classroom and all of them deserve full access to their learning.

It is important to me that every child has equitable access to the tools they need to be successful.

Rather than restricting students to a traditional chair and desk, I tell my students, "Sit where you feel successful!" Unfortunately, right now, that means many students are sitting on the floor. Please help my students achieve their full potential by funding our project and allowing them to sit for success. Thank you so much!
