Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year our first-grade classroom has grown. Our rug is given up and students need a place to sit while we do whole group instruction. Our space is limited this year and students will need classroom square rugs that can be removed and stored easily after whole-group instruction to allow students to work in small groups.

My first graders are constantly standing up and sitting down to get their wiggles out.

These rug squares will allow them to move to another location rather than staying in one space when needed. These square rugs will also be used during small groups or independent work. Some students like to be on the floor when reading and being able to move these squares to any part of the room makes it easier to use our classroom space more effectively.

Due to a lack of space, students sit too close when taking assessments.

The dividers will help them concentrate on their work.

Other materials included are rewards and incentives to reward students for their hard work. I have included stamps and stickers to acknowledge their hard work. The stapler and glue gun will help us create fun and engaging projects. My students will greatly appreciate these materials and use them daily to learn while having the freedom to move around the classroom.
