My Students

How would you like sitting on a hard floor? Can you imagine trying to learn while you are uncomfortable?No one wants that. This is why my students need more comfortable seating. In our classroom, we love learning about the environment and our role in protecting it. We are also interested in planets.

My students are fifth graders.

My classroom is a mixture of students with autism spectrum disorders as well as general education students. They love learning about science concepts and exploring the environment through gardening and composting. They are also very interested in the planets and learning more about our galaxy. Our school is a public school that serves a diverse population of students. We have a significant population of students on the autism spectrum. We also have a large percentage of students who come from low-income families. Our school is a place where kids come to learn and grow together as a community.

My Project

With the yoga ball chair and the planet and tree cushions, our students will be able to sit more comfortably on the floor during lessons. My students have many different learning needs and they benefit from having choice about how and where they sit during lessons. By offering these new seating options, my students will be able to focus more on their learning. My students will benefit from these materials on a daily basis. In addition to them providing a comfortable place to sit, they also will inspire our kids. The pattern on the cushions will hopefully provoke questions from my students and drive their learning even more.

The addition of a yoga ball chair and the tree and planet cushions will improve my classroom enormously.

They will offer my students more choice in where and how they sit during lessons. They will also provoke questions about the planets and the environment. These materials will change the lives of my students for the better because they will all be able learn to their fullest potential.
