My Students

I love my students and have been teaching for over 17 years. I am fortunate enough to teach at the school that I attended when I was a child. I still live in the community and am happy to give back each day. We are a Title 1 school and 100 percent of students receive free lunch.

Our students come from very hard working families.

School is a place where they can socialize with their classmates, have conversations about daily life, and a place where they are exposed to many new and exciting experiences – academics and the arts. My first grade class consists of 30 English Language Learners. They are bright and eager to learn everyday.

My Project

I teach a group of first graders with 30 English Language Learners. Each student needs individualized help in order to maximize learning in my classroom. In order to help each student, working in small groups is the best!

I am requesting a kidney table and a pocket chart in order to facilitate learning in our classroom!

The kidney table will seat 5 to 6 children that will allow me the opportunity to work in small group and differentiate learning for my students. The pocket chart will help my students see words visually and assist with learning phonics and spelling skills.
