My Students

My kindergarten students are curious, energetic 5 and 6 year olds. Their excitement to be attending elementary school for the first time is contagious. From their first to last day, they soak up so much learning that their academic and social growth is amazing to experience.

Our school is located in a small rural town with a close knit community that supports our school's vision of "Creating a Community of Learners and Leaders".

Visitors to our school immediately feel the support that each member of our staff and community gives to our students.

My Project

In kindergarten we make sure our learning is fun. When a child is having fun, the learning occurs naturally without much effort. Using the Heidi Song DVDs in my classroom will incorporate the needed fun that comes with singing and dancing. These DVDs include catchy lyrics and simple motions for learning sight words and math concepts.

Donations to this project will help each of my students to grasp new concepts by targeting a variety of learning styles with songs and dance.

Having such a diverse group of students can be hard to target each learning style, but I know that song and dance can help reach this goal. Students will be able to identify numbers, shapes, and spell sight words by listening to music and moving with the motions.
