My Students

All of my students have autism. They learn very differently from other children. They are highly visual and kinesthetic learners. They love to move, sing, and explore around the classroom. Learning for them has to be fun and engaging. Using textured materials, realia and manipulatives help them enjoy learning reading, writing as well as math.

My students love to learn.

They try their very best to be in school everyday. They try their hardest during learning time. Their parents are our partners in education, without their help, the children will not be as successful as they are now.

My students are integrated everyday with their non disabled peers and they are well respected and loved by our school, by other children and our community.

My Project

All of my special needs students like music and movement. They learn best when their bodies are active. They also like to feel and touch to make sense of what they are learning. The CD player will replace my old radio that sometimes doesn't work. It will help my students listen to the Sing-Along, Read Along books. The alphabet puzzles, flashcards and sentence builders will be used in our ELA small group center for the students to master their alphabet knowledge. The number flashcards, file folder games will be used to enhance their knowledge in numbers and continue to learn counting and cardinality.All the other sensory materials will be used when students are overwhelmed with all the activities in the classroom. The printer ink will be used to make a print rich environment for my classroom.

The donations for this project will help my students increase their academic knowledge while learning them in a fun, lively and non-stressful environment.

The products I have selected will help them better understand ELA and Math using manipulative, music and movement to remember and retain concepts taught. Please help me give plan fun and exciting lessons for children with autism!
