Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The drug and poison simulation testing kits will give students a hands-on approach to testing samples. They will learn techniques such as sterile technique, sample collection, and how samples are tested in the lab.

My students love when they can learn by doing.

They will enjoy working with the simulated materials and the kit sets up a nice inquiry based approach to learning about forensic techniques. This will be used for career exposure and allow students to see how heavy metal testing and drug testing can be made efficient. They will also work as groups and learn to communicate effectively to conduct the lab.

The microscopes with cameras and LCD displays will allow my students to share their findings easily. Currently they use their phones to try to take images of the microscope slides but it is difficult to align the camera lens with the microscope magnification. The displays will allow students to share the microscopic world with the younger students that visit our school.
