My Students

With our limited funding, we are unable to afford microscopes & accessories for our 200 students. There is a "fascinating world" of organisms & microscopic objects around us. Our students are unaware of the microscopic life around them & having these instruments will help them discover the new life.

We are in a rural part of northeast Arkansas in a school with very limited science funding.

Our 200 hundred 6th grade students are intelligent, hard-working young people who love to discover new things. Using and learning about new technology in the classroom is one of their favorite ways to learn. They get very excited every time I bring out science equipment. They are excited to work in groups and/or with partner to discover new things. They work well in groups and learn well in groups. This equipment is great way to help them work in lab groups and teach each other what they are discovering. They love to share what they know with each other.

My Project

These microscopes will enrich a variety of observations and explorations that would not be possible for our 200 students otherwise. Having many microscopes will enable them to spend time looking at microscopic subjects instead of looking for them. They will be amazed by the fine details they will be able to see with this equipment. In viewing different objects under the microscope, student will also discover that not all cells are the same in size, shape, and function. in using and making new slides, the students can explore living microbes commonly found under their fingernails, in dustballs, and fishing ponds. In learning about these microscopic organisms, we can make them aware of the need to be clean and sanitized in order to minimize the spread of germs and sicknesses. They can also learn more about how life lives, exists, and reproduces body cells and organs cells by making our own slides of common objects in our environment.

Nearly every medical career explores & investigates the "unseen" & microscopic life that live around & inside of us.

The equipment would afford the students the tools for image measurement, labeling, & manipulation on a microscopic stage. By learning more about our microscopic world, the students are better equipped & encouraged to explore careers in the medical field. The more we can stimulate inquiry in school the greater chance we have of training highly qualified professionals for the future
