My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds - we have English language learners, Special education learners, immigrant families, and a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. Although they may have the odds stacked against them, they always want to do their best.

My students are amazing, and as their science teacher, I want to best support their learning - and you can help!

I have students who are learning virtually and it's a struggle with technology. Students are not able to get the full experience of hands-on learning but with the proper equipment, a lot can be achieved.

My Project

Due to the pandemic, my students are learning from home and I am teaching them via zoom. Teaching science is extremely difficult this way especially if I need to model an experiment for the students to observe and draw their own conclusions. I currently use my cell phone with the help of someone holding the phone while I conduct the experiment. A document camera and a headset would be extremely helpful while conducting a demonstration or in showing students an image from a book. with a document camera, students would be able to experience demonstrations, for example, static electricity without me telling someone where to hold the phone.

Students are struggling with remote learning, as science is a hands-on subject, understanding the concepts behind a science experiment is quite challenging and makes grasping information much harder overall.

A document camera can capture multiple angles at the same time, I can accomplish multiple tasks with my students without relying on a co-worker to assist and hold my cell phone while I conduct the experiments, and students will have an easier way of grasping the concepts.
