This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, curious, loving, fun, and talented! Being a classroom teacher, I am constantly trying to provide my learners with the most beneficial, equitable education experience to foster lifelong learners in a positive, supportive environment.

The majority of the students in my classroom come from disadvantaged backgrounds, and I want to give them all the opportunities they deserve to succeed in this world.

My students come from various countries such as Albania, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and many more. In addition to the language and cultural barriers,​ I have several students with IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) to support their academic growth and several with ADHD. Despite these challenges, these students break all barriers due to their drive to learn. Currently, these little go-getters are working hard to achieve all goals they set their minds to.

My Project

My students diligently worked this past school year, overcoming the challenge of learning from both school and home. With all students coming into the school building in September, I want to make sure each child has the basic materials needed to have a successful school year.

I am requesting basic materials such as folders, notebooks, and whiteboards to help my students learn productively.

The dry erase boards will be used specifically with math and group work so that students can show their thinking. The folders, notebooks, and sheet protectors will help the students stay organized. The binder rings will be used when students create flashcards of concepts and of sight words. The paint will be used to add color and creativity to some of the more hands-on projects that we will do.

These children have seen and experienced things that no child should have to experience. It is my job as an educator to help them excel academically and slowly help them transition and feel safe in this new normal. Although the future is definitely unknown, providing basic supplies will make learning and teacher planning much easier.
