My students need 15 squeegees, 15 brayers, and 30 embroidery hoops. They also need screen fabric, a variety of printing ink so that they have a choice in color usage, and good quality brushes with which to paint.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
The look of gratification on a student's face when they have accomplished a work of art that they are proud is the reason why I love to teach. There is always at least one art project each year that my students absolutely love doing.
My students are wonderful, full of life and culture.
They are very proud of their Mexican-American heritage, and love their Los Angelino culture. Our school does everything they can to prepare our students for college, making sure that class sizes don't exceed 30, and that they have all the course units they need get accepted into a good university.
My Project
This is the first year that our high school has very offered a studio art class. The students are excited to get a hands-on experience and learn about all different types of art. Since we are building the art program from the ground up, there is not a large variety of art supplies for the students to choose from yet. We are hoping to expand the program and the art experiences with more diverse supplies. I want them to explore drawing, painting, printmaking, hand building, and silk screening.
With the silk screening materials, learning to Silk Screen will teach my students a popular printmaking process that has bold, bright colors, and allow them to reproduce large quantities of their work.
While working in this style they will learn about postmodernist artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein that popularized screen printing. They will also be able to use this technique later on in life to create artworks outside of the classroom, and potentially a career using this process.
