My Students

In today's world technology is a skill that every student should know and this project allows my students to show off their skills!

My students are in 3rd grade and attend a charter school.

My class has 14 boys and 14 girls who all get along with each other. They are so funny I have to turn away so they don't see me laugh. They are kind, caring and always putting forth their best effort. They love to read and listen to read-alouds and are excellent at making connections. They also learn best from doing hands-on activities. Unfortunately the lack of technology in our classroom doesn't allow my students to show their full potential.

My Project

My students use technology every day in our class. They love to show me the stories they type, the pictures they draw on the computer from their imagination and different PowerPoint skills they have learned, but they are unable to show these amazing things to anyone else because we don't have a printer for our classroom. The printer would not only allow my students to show their creations but to show mine as well. I am also requesting a cd/radio/ipod boombox and headphones for my students to have listening centers for reading & math. So many of my students need to work on their listening comprehension and this center would help. Lastly, I am requesting speakers for my computers. A big part of our core knowledge curriculum is sound and I would love for my students to experience sound in many different ways. These speakers would allow my students to listen to every day sounds but also create their own on the computer and share them with the class.

As a teacher it is my responsibility to teach my students but to also share their creations and show off their skills.

This project would allow me to share their amazing capabilities and have them learn using technology in new ways.
