Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Chronic absenteeism has become a growing issue since the COVID-19 pandemic. Many students have lost the motivation to come to school. Some students do not even see the value of obtaining a high school diploma.
Providing positive reinforcements such as small toys, stickers, and charms to students for showing up to school will incentivize and encourage students to attend school regularly.
Incentivizing students is beneficial but having a safe and comfortable space for students to utilize is crucial for student success. With the addition of a fun rug, students will be able to access an environment that is positive and supportive. Not only will these items increase student attendance but they will also improve their academics, behavior, and social-emotional well-being. These items will help foster an atmosphere where students are able to succeed and overcome their struggles.
