Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title 1 school. All students in the school receive both free breakfast and lunch. Students come from low-income families, they suffer both at home and school just nearly scrapping by. Their socioeconomic status can greatly impact their education in varies ways, from having enough food at home to stay alert at school, to being able to take basic supplies to school to achieve their academic duties. The demographics of the school show that Hispanic, Latino and African American make up nearly the whole school population. Also the majority of Latino and Hispanic students at the school come from immigrant families and are at risk of dropping out or being left behind due to the language barriers.

My Project

I want to be able to integrate technology in our everyday learning. Students currently have textbooks but I want to be able to have students find the most recent information out there. I want them to be able to not just read about the places we talk about in World Cultures but actually do in depth, research and watch the places online.

Giving students the opportunity to learn through technology and become 21st century learners is my goal.

I chose the tablets because they are small enough that students will be able to move around easily and show other students their findings, work and answers. For example, lets say we want to review a unit, we could play Kahoot and students will not have to feel bad if they do not have an electronic device to participate because I will be providing them.

The laptop I added because although the tablets do just about everything a laptop does some students lack computer skills. They do not have enough experience of using a laptop/desk and sometimes can not so simple things like create an exclamation mark because they do not know which keys to use.
