Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders are sweet, observant, and highly motivated to learn. I may not have had them long since the school year just started, but I can already see that they want to be successful learners. Their school is located in East Harlem and a lot of the students live in shelters.

I can already see that my students want to share.

For example, one of my little boys wanted to read his book and it was difficult for everyone to see the book without the document reader.

It is also hard to share their math work, so everyone can see his or her answer. They can also explain how they got to their answer where everyone can see.

My Project

This item will help my students be more motivated in writing because they can use this item to show off their writing. When we do writing celebrations where parents and staff are invited, students can put their work under the document reader, so everyone can see it in the classroom. When children get to see their work and see their parents' happy faces, they get more motivated to do more writing and keep trying harder. They can also use this to put their math work or anything else they wish to share.

I as the teacher can use this item to zoom in on items, especially books for students, to help them see more clearly.

I can also use this item to put photographs, so students can see more clearly. I can also put students work under this so they can share with their classmates. Students can also put books under the document reader so they can read to their classmates.

I feel that by having a document reader in my class students will see artifacts better, enhance their learning, and increase their self-esteem when they get to share how much they know.
