This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach at a Title 1 school, which means majority of our students come from a low socioeconomic household. Located in Miami Gardens Florida, approximately thirty minutes from Miami Beach, the scenery of the two cities are at opposite ends of the spectrum. My students enjoy engaging with each other and participating in educational games. White boards will allow students to collaborate and compete. It's brings fun and excitement to the learning process. These materials will increase engagement in the class.

My Project

Using white boards in class will allow me to quickly assess whether students understand the concepts as I'm teaching. Using white boards will give everyone a voice, not just the students who like to share. This will allow me to SEE what everyone is thinking based on their responses. This quick check for understanding drives instruction because I'll know if I can move on to the next detail or if I need to continue explaining. This helps students because they don't feel the pressure of being singled out if I call on them and they're not sure of the answer.
