Show Me The Evidence - Literally!

Help me give my students the ability to have and hold their own novels, to be able to practice multiple reading strategies, such as finding text evidence, by having the ability to annotate the text directly.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a place where you can find a diverse range of learning styles, lexile reading levels, and personalities. It is a place of exploration and discovery. My goal as a teacher is to make learning fun, enjoyable, engaging and rewarding.

The students whom I teach are from a Title I school.

In order to be the best teacher that I can be and to ensure that my students receive an engaging learning experience, I am asking for class sets of the novels that we are will be studying, so that students will be able to bring the novel to and from school. This will allow students to hold on to the novel during the duration of the unit, and engage in multiple reading strategies by being able to use post-its to write on and stick on pages, or having the ability to write directly on the page! Having access to "their own" books will encourage them to stay motivated and work hard. Students will be able to find text evidence by highlighting or underlining within the novel. They will be able to determine the meaning of unknown words by writing the definition directly into the book.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in my students' learning, because they will be able to right directly into the novels and not have to worry about sharing the book with other students. Each student will engage in learning multiple reading strategies and will be able to practice hands-on. When the bell rings for the next class, and if a student is not finished with their task, they will be able to take the novel home and finish on their own time. This will ease student anxiety and pressure. When time to construct an essay, students can go back to their annotations!
