I teach third grade at a diverse, Title I school in Southwest Florida. Our students come from numerous cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are an "A" school and one of 27 schools chosen by The Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center (ECTAC) for "Exceeding Expectations." Through lots of hard work, our school continues to help our students succeed.
I encourage lots of independent reading time in my classroom, and I expect my students to read from a range of genres.
I try to keep our classroom library organized by genre so that my students can easily find the books, authors, and series that they love. They love to read and get excited when we get new books!
My Project
For this project, I am requesting a variety of books that will help to expand and update our classroom library. These books come from series that I know my students love, such as the graphic novel series "Lunch Lady" and "BabyMouse" and the Historical Fiction series "Time Warp Trio," as well as some series I want to add to my classroom library to appeal to boys ("Horrible Harry") and girls ("Ivy and Bean"). I want to make sure I have as many books in these series as possible - so that once kids read the first book in the series and like it, there are instantly more books from the rest of the series that they'll want to read!
The more variety I can provide for my readers, the better chances I have of engaging and "hooking" each and every one of them.
Thank you for helping me teach every child in my class to love reading!
