My Students

We are an urban school located in Rego Park, Queens. My students' multicultural backgrounds enrich our classroom community. My students reading abilities are varied and in order to enrich and support them in this area, they need access to quality literature.they can call their own. My students love to engage in conversations about their reading using their imaginations and creativity to challenge each other academically.

My Fifth grade students need access to a multitude of literature that will engage them as readers in shared, close reading experiences.

We are a small school in NYC with a diverse population. Our students come from all parts of the world and, in a lot of cases, English is their second language. As fifth graders, they are preparing for the demands of middle school, especially in the area of English Language Arts.

My Project

My fifth grade students are blooming authors, writing daily to increase stamina, pacing and to hone their writing skills both creatively and academically. They love to create illustrations to compliment their writing.

Colored pencils and artist quality drawing paper will allow these budding artists and authors to create magnificent, illustrated writing pieces.

The pride students feel when sharing their work, and displaying them in the classroom and hallways, helps to build their confidence and self-esteem in all areas. By using artist grade colored pencils and drawing paper, my fifth grade students will be able to create more detailed drawings. They will be able to implement different drawing techniques such as shading, and contouring, to enable their words to paint a picture and their drawings to compliment their words. They will be able to show and tell!
