My Students
Being in an elementary school orchestra program is powerful and meaningful for our students. We need shoulder rests for our violins to make our musician's sound even better.
Our campus contains three small schools.
One school for gifted and talented, one choice neighborhood school, and a specialized school for students with autism and other learning disabilities. Students in our orchestra program are from all three schools. Our students are excited to be part of a wonderful ensemble, and are excited about making music. We have wonderful brand new violins, however no shoulder pads.
My Project
Shoulder pads are an important material necessary for any violinist. Shoulder pads help students hold the instrument correctly, develop correct posture, and will overall effect their sound. The shoulder pads will be able to be re-used for many years and benefit many students.
This is important because our orchestra program is creating a wonderful voice and experience for our students.
Students are being provided with the opportunity to be part of a group that instills responsibility, respect, and ownership, as well as opportunities to make beautiful music.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
