My Students

My students live in lower socioeconomic neighborhoods that require support with basic needs. One of the biggest challenges my students live with is the lack of resources to have updated or new equipment for extracurricular activities. I work at a school with students that require free breakfast and free lunches while their families struggle financially to provide basic items on their own.

The sports equipment will ensure students create skills for responsibility, create a foundation of teamwork skills, and create engagement with the activity.

Everyone should have access to different learning resources. A large percentage of our students live in multi-family member homes, foster homes, other family members and friends' homes, and hotels/motels. These students and families may not have the financial freedoms to provide resources for extra curricular activities.

Having the ability to provide our school's basketball club with these items can change student's confidence, emotional well-being, and provide a positive atmosphere when they are at school. It is our job as educators to ensure that all students have everything they require to make sure they are receiving the best education possible. Breaking down these barriers will help students focus on their success on and off the court.

My Project

By donating to the project, you will be able to provide new sports equipment to children that do not have the financial capability of providing this on their own. Many children will not have the opportunity to play on an outside team, travel league, or afford a basketball to practice on their own.

By donating, you will be providing students an opportunity to learn basic teamwork skills and build a foundation of learning to open the door when they go to middle school and high school.

They will have the opportunity to be active and find a niche for themselves now before it is too late.

Students need to have an opportunity to learn outside of the classroom. The court is a great way to show students how to be an active athlete, successful team player, and responsibility and organization with equipment.
