My Students

Our students have come together as a drama family over the past 5 years. From the smallest Munchkin or Oompa Loompa to our spectacular leads, they embrace the chance to express themselves on stage. We are a Title 1 school, in which many of our students do not have the chance to explore the arts with their families. They are not able to go to see a show, even at the local theater.

Our Drama Club is full of 130+ vivacious students who cannot get enough of the stage.

They work for months on the production and behind the scenes. They are dedicated and serious actors. The revel of each years' musical is an event in and of itself. It is wonderful to see a student with low self-confidence blossom when they enter our auditorium and take the stage!

Barkley Elementary is known in our community for the amazing musical productions each year. Students from 2nd through 5th grade participate each year to 'sell out' crowds. They work hard to be sure to rock the socks off of their audience! With this many thespians, it can be hard to be sure they all look their best on stage.

My Project

Imagine a fairy without wings!

Our actors deserve to been seen from the balcony in all their colorful glory. Our production this year is full of fairies, sheep, pigs and wolves. How can a wolf howl if they don't have ears?

Over the years we have accumulated many different costumes and continue to use them in different ways. However as time has gone by so has the quality of our costumes. Fairy wings are shabby and torn, t-shirts have been lost, tails are bare, and headbands have only one ear. New costumes will be loved by our actors for not only this production, but for years to come.
